Job Description

Novamex markets an array of food and beverage brands in a variety of categories. Each brand is a leader in its category. We are currently seeking a Ontario Sales Market Leader to join our growing team in the Toronto, Canada area.


Summary

With a strong focus on food service, responsible for calling on new or existing accounts, including independent retail, to increase sales in Ontario. This will be achieved by developing close relationships with restaurant/store managers and looking for new strategies to gain more visibility space at the restaurant or store level. Also responsible for identifying distribution gaps and creating plans to close those gaps at both retail and food service channels within the assigned territory. The market leader will work hand in hand with our distributor and broker partners, and will prioritize time, targets and selling efforts based on potential, market insights and analytics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively seek, qualify, and action top penetration opportunities aligned with company’s growth strategy for all brands.
  • Achieves excellence in placement and presentation at restaurant and independent retail store locations.
  • Negotiates to maintain the highest level of product placement at restaurant or store level.
  • Provides constructive feedback to employees on product placement and negotiation of desired fridge or shelf space.
  • Performs duties to achieve maximum return of Market Development Funds, including the creation of plans and promotions to execute at the point of sale. Acts as lead to drive and coordinate said programs.
  • Follow up with store managers and decision makers to ensure customer satisfaction, and/or uncover opportunities for improvement.
  • Fosters a creative environment to provide fresh and innovative point of sale initiatives.
  • Increases visibility and turnover of product at restaurant and retail locations.
  • Create and nurture relationships with new and existing stores selling the Novamex brands.
  • Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales. Use this information to create sales tactics and report to manager to support the national sales strategy.
  • Leverage sampling and market blitz as a strategy to close sales.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in food service or grocery retail sales/merchandising. Ideally in food and/or beverage products categories.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Overall excellent communication and writing skills, with a strong command of the English language. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Proficiency in a second language is a strong asset.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to conceptualize new ideas, research new ideas, and evaluate them objectively from a market and financial standpoint.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and access to a vehicle daily is required.
  • Knowledge of the Toronto City, the GTA’s culture and Ontario’s Geography is a must.
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen and interpersonal savvy.
  • Follow-up on all communications and commitments resulting from customer meetings.
  • Living in Toronto (GTA) is a must.
